This article was originally published in The Gray Sheet

Executive Summary

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chair Henry Waxman, D-Calif., said Jan. 27 he will work with House Republicans to seek information from the White House and HHS regarding behind-closed-door deals that President Obama made last spring with the device trade association AdvaMed and pharmaceutical, hospital, and health insurance groups in order to secure cooperation in health care reform (1The Gray Sheet, May 18, 2009). Waxman's panel voted Jan. 27 to report to the full House H. Res. 983, a resolution of inquiry by Texas Republican Michael Burgess asking the Obama administration to release "any document, e-mail or records of internal discussions" about the deals
