Executive Summary

Medtronic: Peek Prevail Cervical Interbody Device launch announced May 4. A "zero-profile" device, Peek Prevail eliminates the need for a plate and attaches to the spine with only two screws, Medtronic explains. The device's polyetheretherketone material is invisible on x-rays, allowing the surgeon to monitor spine fusion during follow-ups. Peek Prevail is indicated for patients with cervical disease from the C2-C3 disc to the C7-T1 disc. Medtronic is also introducing an occipitocervical module on its Vertex Select Reconstruction System for use in posterior cervical fusions. The new module provides adjustability that allows surgeons to tailor the procedure to each patient, the firm says
