Executive Summary
Coalition of clinical lab and patient advocacy groups is backing the "Medicare Patient Access to Preventive and Diagnostic Tests Act of 2001." Introduced May 24 by co-sponsors Reps. Jennifer Dunn (R-Wash.) and Jim McDermott (D-Wash.), the bill would implement a national fee schedule for clinical laboratory test services under Medicare (1"The Gray Sheet" May 21, 2001, p. 6). Companion legislation by Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and John Kerry (D-Mass.) is expected to be released the week of May 28
