Executive Summary
GLYCOLIC ACID STUDY: MATERNAL, DEVELOPMENTAL TOXICITY FOUND IN PREGNANT RATS according to a letter from DuPont Central Research and Development Director Charles Reinhardt, MD, to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics. Citing results from a pilot study conducted by the DuPont research center, Reinhardt said that toxicity was detected in pregnant rats and rat fetuses at doses of 500 mg/kg and 1,000 mg/kg of a 70% technical grade glycolic acid solution. No evidence of toxicity was found at lower doses of the solution.
