Seventy-nine percent of health care professionals advise patients to take dietary supplements, with a third citing bone health as an explanation, according to the Council for Responsible Nutrition's "Life...supplemented" consumer wellness campaign. The online survey of 1,177 physicians, registered nurses and nurse practitioners found overall health, joint health, heart health and healthy cholesterol levels as other primary reasons for recommending supplements, the campaign says Sept. 16.
