QUOTED. 4 October 2019. Elena Kyria.

Executive Summary

Elena Kyria, founder of UK-based recruitment firm Elemed, offers advice to people who are looking to change jobs within the medtech sector and are looking for regulatory opportunities. Check out her comments here.

"For those who are just thinking about changing jobs, there are a lot of job opportunities for people, but it won’t always be like that. I speak to many candidates who say that they are not looking right now but will do so after the full application of the MDR [EU's Medical Device Regulation]. After the date of full application of the MDR, we will still have a supply and demand problem, but we will see far fewer interesting open opportunities. Instead, we will see far more opportunities that are backfill roles, rather than the creation of new roles. So, if you’re thinking about moving, time is of the essence. To get that next step might be a bit of a stretch in learning development for you. But companies are more willing to compromise now while there’s not so much talent available. When there are more people looking for jobs, after full application of the MDR, it will be much more difficult to make that move." – Elena Kyria, founder, Elemed
