Covidien has quickly resolved the problem that led to a recall of its Pipeline embolization device in April. The firm was forced into the recall after it discovered that the polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) coating applied to the delivery wire could delaminate and detach from the devices – which could potentially lead to blood vessel blockage and stroke.
