Italy’s NAS “national healthcare protection police corps” (NAS) impounded more than 268,000 devices in the first three months of 2013, as a result of inspections of healthcare providers and product distributors and suppliers. From the around 5,300 inspections carried out by the NAS, 19.3% of devices and 26.8% of pharmaceuticals inspected were deemed to be in breach of administrative or other standards.
