Testing and certification body UL (Underwriters Laboratories) has expanded its customer base and widened its device assessment capabilities following the purchase last week of two German firms. Ochsenhausen-based mdt medical device testing GmbH (MDT) and md registration support Ltd (MDRS) will enable UL’s life and health business unit to offer testing of orthopaedic, ophthalmic and cardiovascular implantable devices. This increases the US-based group’s ability to compete by opening up new client groups.
