Japanese giant Olympus has acquired specialist endoscope developer Spirus Medical, cementing its market-leading position in the endoscopy market. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but unconfirmed media reports estimated that the deal could be worth up to $60m if Spirus meets certain milestones.
