Cardiologist and heart failure specialist Michel Komajda has become the new president of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). Prof Komajda started in the role on 1 September and aims to enhance the society’s international reputation and build special relationships with its existing member countries. He is also currently head of the Cardiovascular Medical and Surgical Departments at the Pitié Salpetrière Hospital in Paris and was formerly the president of the French Society of Cardiology.
