Executive Summary
Propaq M, a vital signs monitor developed by Zoll Medical, has received 510(k) clearance from the US FDA. The product, which is designed for use by the military, is a companion monitor to the firm's Propaq MD military monitor/defibrillator, which was cleared in August (www.clinica.co.uk, 2 August 2010). Both devices operate in the same way, which allows users to switch between them easily and reduces training expenses, Zoll says. In addition, many existing Propaq and Zoll accessories currently in military use will be compatible with the new products. Propaq M is nearly 2.3kg lighter than current monitors, Chelmsford, Massachusetts-based Zoll claims. It includes new features such as 12-lead monitoring and a night vision goggle mode.
