Zoll's Propaq MD monitor/defibrillator cleared in US

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The US FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for Zoll Medical's Propaq MD monitor/defibrillator, designed for military use. The device is 60% smaller and 40% lighter than similar monitor/defibrillators, Zoll (Chelmsford, Massachusetts) claims. It is also 0.9kg lighter than the firm's current military vital signs monitor, the Propaq 206, which does not include defibrillation and pacing capabilities like Propaq MD. The new system also has a night vision goggle mode. Propaq MD was developed using grants from the US Army Medical Research and Development Command, in collaboration with the US Department of Defense and Welch Allyn.
