NICE stats on decade of appraisals reveal 80% positive rate

Executive Summary
The UK’s National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) has published statistics related to its 367 technology appraisal recommendations, dating back to March 2000. Up to 30 June 2010, it issued 367 decisions, of which 245 (67%) were “recommended”, 61 (16%) resulted in an “optimised” decision; 22 (6%) were approved for research only; and 40 (11%) were not recommended. A further 11 appraisals were either withdrawn or could not be made due to non-submission of evidence.
