Italy extends radiopharma standards deadline

Executive Summary
Italy has extended the deadline for implementing the new "standards for the preparation of nuclear medicine radiopharmaceuticals" to 1 July 2011. A Decree 150, passed on 24 June 2010, also sets out the requirement on all hospitals to report to the health ministry, by 30 November 2010, the number and location of both the facilities that are not ready to handle or prepare radiopharmaceuticals, and those that will be ready to apply the standards by the July 2011 deadline. The adjournment was published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale of 30 June 2010. The standards are covered by a series of decrees dating back to November 2003.
