Executive Summary
Cardiologists from Brigham & Women's Hospital, Boston, and Rush Presbyterian Medical Center, Chicago, presented data from their first attempts at minimally invasive laser revascularisation using PLC's Heart Laser, at the American Heart Association meeting in Anaheim this week. The two groups have performed the procedure on five Yorkshire pigs and said that it was both feasible and safe. Three incisions were made, to accommodate thoroscopes and the laser. Dr Brian deGuzman said that the closed-chest technique could reduce morbidity and be more cost effective.
