Executive Summary

Elisabeth Hubert has been sacked as the French Health Minister after only six months in the job. In a surprise cabinet reshuffle, the number of ministers and juniors has been cut from 41 to 32. There is now no Minister for Health as such since the portfolio has been assumed by two ministers - Labour Minister Jacques Barrot will take on the additional role of Social Affairs Minister, while Herve Gaymard, formerly Secretary of State for Finance at the Economics Ministry, becomes Secretary of State for Health and Social Affairs.
