Executive Summary
A photochemical technique developed by University of Kentucky researchers may allow early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis (MS). Speaking at the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists annual meeting at Miami Beach earlier this month Dr Boyd Haley said the technique could detect altered protein interactions in spinal fluid from Alzheimer's patients and unique proteins in fluid from MS sufferers. Neither are detectable by traditional protein detection methods, he said.
