Inadequate publicity for Hong Kong's bone banks:

This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Hong Kong has two human bone banks providing donor bones for transplantation but almost no-one knows the service exists, says Dr Poon Tak-lun, director of the Queen Mary hospital bone bank. Speaking at the 1995 Congress of the Western Pacific Orthopaedic Association, Dr Poon noted that five or six bone transplants are performed annually in Hong Kong. Professor Henry Mankin of Harvard Medical School suggested that regional bone banks consider setting up an international network through which donor bones could be made available.
