The market for incontinence products has more than doubled in Spain since 1990 to reach Pta 25,000 million ($196 million) last year. The rise is related directly to the ageing population, concludes a study by the Incontinence Forum. While no official figures exist, the study estimates some 2.3 million Spaniards are affected by incontinence, says El Pais.
