This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

Korea's Ministry of Health and Welfare is to fund the inclusion of CT examinations in medical insurance schemes, but has dropped plans to cover MRI tests due to budgetary constraints. The allocation of Won 25,300 million ($33 million) from the Ministry's budget means that patient contributions to CT scans will fall by up to 75% (to between $45 and $86) from the beginning of next year. A total of 618 CT units are currently installed in hospitals throughout South Korea, reports Pharma Koreana.
