Toshiba America Medical Systems has introduced the Xpress/GX helical CT scanner - the latest addition to its line of slip-ring CT scanners. The system is 50% smaller and 30% lighter than current standard systems, enabling installation in institutions which require the high-performance capabilities of helical scanning and image quality of solid-state detectors but have limited space, says CT business unit director Skip Dionne. The Xpress/GX performs one second, 360 degree scans and features new optical data transmission technology for transferring data from rotating X-ray detectors to the display.
