Executive Summary
Gamidor has launched Becton Dickinson's QBC Autoread desktop, centrifugal haematology system in the UK. The easy-to-use system uses no liquid reagents and does not require a compressed air supply. It measures nine parameters, including total white cell count, haematocrit, haemoglobin, platelet count and the percentage and total granulocytes and lymphocytes/monocytes. Finger-prick samples are collected in precoated glass tubes, centrifuged and then inserted into a scanner, which reads each tube 10 times. Results can be displayed on a flip-up screen or printed.
