Executive Summary
Hyox Systems (UK) has introduced HTU3 its new hyperbaric oxygen therapy unit. The chamber is pressurised with air by an integral compressor, and has a "unique gas supply control panel", the company claims. Pressurisation rate is fixed, reaching a maximum 2 kg/cm(2) in approximately 20 minutes, and the operator can stop and start the process manually. Also featured are electrical auto-shutdown and a mechanical override pressure relief valve. Oxygen concentration within the chamber is continually monitored and displayed, and an audio-visual alert is activated at a preset 25%. There are two preset depressurisation rates, and a failsafe valve which can exhaust the chamber to atmospheric pressure in less than two minutes. The HTU3 also has a two-way communication system, and a separate channel to allow external stereo sound sources to be fed into the chamber.
