Biochemists from Delhi University, India, have developed a rapid HIV test which can produce results in less than ten seconds. Evaluated on 100 samples, the test was 99% accurate, say the researchers, who hope to improve its sensitivity. Commercialisation is set for a year's time for use in India's 1,100 blood banks, says a report in Le Quotidien du Medecin.
