Chiron has developed a quantitative simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) test. The kit, which is based on the HIV-1 bDNA assay, is intended for natural history research. Preliminary data were presented at the 35th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents & Chemotherapy, in San Francisco (September 17th-20th).
