Executive Summary
Instromedix (US) has launched the HeartCard cardiac event recorder to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac patients. When symptoms begin, the patient can place the credit card-sized device against the chest to record ECG information. The stored ECG can then be transmitted over the telephone to a physician's office or hospital cardiology unit for interpretation. An estimated 2 million US citizens suffer some form of tachycardia, dizziness or fainting.
