Roche says that its Amplicor HIV monitor kit has been chosen for viral load studies in the Delta trial. Three commercial assays were evaluated by Delta scientists. All performed satisfactorily, but the Roche kit was more sensitive to low levels of virus in plasma and had the widest dynamic response - being able to detect HIV from 200- 10(6 )copies/ml.
