Executive Summary
A modified bDNA test can detect and quantify HIV in newborns, says Chiron. It adds that the improved assay can detect as few as 500 RNA equivalents in a 50 micro l sample. Chiron scientists presented data from 134 specimens from 37 patients aged 0-162 months at ICAAC in San Francisco (35th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents, September 17th-20th).
