Executive Summary
Terumo (Japan) launched Radiofocus, its first coronary guidewire, at the European Society of Cardiology annual meeting (August 20th-24th). The hydrophilic wire is intended for crossing total occlusions and uses a platinum/iridium coil for tip visualisation. Slippery guidewires have been one of the main weapons against total occlusion but up until now Terumo has not produced a wire with a radio-opaque tip.
