Innovative vascular clamp developed by Israelis

Executive Summary
Researchers at the Technion's Rappaport Medical Faculty in Israel have developed a novel vascular clamp which can occlude arteries at low pressure. It avoids vascular injuries during surgery which can occur with traditional clamps which achieve vascular occlusion by squeezing the blood vessel between noncompliant jaws. This process results in high local pressure which often damages, or even destroys, blood vessels.
