Executive Summary
Ciba Vision benefited from strong demand for high volume lenses in optics as well as a vigorous advance in ophthalmic pharmaceutical sales. The ophthalmic division of Swiss pharmaceutical company Ciba saw sales increase 4% to SwFr 551 million ($467 million) in the first half of 1995 while Ciba's total healthcare sales fell 9% to SwFr 3,873 million. The decline was largely due to the transfer of Ciba's diagnostics business to US-based Chiron.
