Executive Summary
A new compact pEEG monitor has been developed by Drager (Germany) to measure depth of unconsciousness during anaesthesia. Neuro-electrical signals are measured via adhesive electrodes and diagnostic ECG data, including spectral edge and median frequencies, are calculated and displayed on a screen. This, says Drager, enables the anaesthetist to avert a patient's premature return to consciousness.
