Executive Summary
Polymer Technology has been ordered to stop selling its First Choice test strips intended for use in LifeScan's One Touch blood glucose meters. A May 31st ruling by the Federal District Court in Seattle makes permanent a preliminary injunction in January which found that Polymer's test strips infringed LifeScan's patents (see Clinica No 637, p 10). LifeScan, the Johnson & Johnson subsidiary which produces One Touch test strips for use with its monitoring systems, did not seek damages against Polymer. The court ordered Polymer to pay LifeScan's legal fees.
