The US FDA's Center for Devices & Radiological Health (CDRH) is trying to unload some of its cargo before Congress decides to scuttle the whole CDRH ship. Center officials are looking at a number of options for privatisation, including "routine inspections", CDRH director Bruce Burlington told a Capitol Hill conference on May 22nd. The Center has already agreed to a pilot programme for outside premarket review of some device applications. A public meeting on the subject is scheduled for June 19th.
