Harbin Medical University is using reverse-transcription PCR for viral encephalitis diagnosis, writes Clinica's Chinese correspondent. Professor Wangweizhi is using PCR to test for herpes simplex, CMV, coxsackievirus and other enteroviruses involved in encephalitis. The detection rate in 47 viral encephalitis patients was 61.4%.
