Vitamin C cleared of glycation interference:

Executive Summary
Vitamin C does not affect measurement of glycohaemoglobin, according to researchers from the University of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Writing in Clinical Chemistry (May) they say that contrary to previous reports, vitamin C intake has no effect on glycohaemoglobin determinations by HPLC, electrophoresis, affinity chromatography or immunoassay. In patients with poorly controlled or uncontrolled diabetes mellitus glucose binds to haemoglobin to form glycohaemoglobin, which reflects blood glucose concentration over the previous two to three months.
