Canadian medical technology production up 6.7% in 1993

Executive Summary

Canadian medical device companies achieved estimated sales of Can$2,800 million ($2,000 million) in 1993, up 6.7% compared with the year before, according to the first annual survey of the Canadian industry by MEDEC. Compiled on behalf of the industry association by KPMG, the survey includes data from 81 companies which account for 40-50% of total market sales. Domestic consumption is put at around Can$2,500-2,600 million, with exports accounting for 8% of total output.
