Executive Summary
International Telepresence's (Canada) 3DSee three-dimensional imaging system has been used in minimally-invasive surgery (MIS) in Canada. International Telepresence says it is the first time MIS has been performed using a single lens/single camera device. The procedures, two gall bladder operations and a hernia repair, were performed by Dr Alan Lomax of Dawson Creek and District Hospital in British Columbia. The technology claims to be unique; International Telepresence says about a dozen other 3-D systems rely on more expensive twin-camera designs.
