New equipment for new-look Italy?:

Executive Summary
Italian healthcare managers will invest more in up-to-date medical equipment as a result of healthcare reforms. With the sector increasingly driven by market forces, survival will depend on hospitals' ability to attract customers. Patients will favour prompt diagnosis with state-of-the-art equipment and those centres that do not offer it, whether in the private or public sector, will be forced to close. This is the thrust of a recent comment in Il Sole-24 Ore. It stops short, however, of explaining where the money for such investment will come from.
