Figures as of October 31st, 1994, show that Italian national healthcare services take 324 days on average to pay suppliers, an improvement of just nine days on October 1993. The slowest payer was Calabria, where the average delay was 678 days. This compared with 89 days in Valle d'Aosta, the only Region that was able to match the government's newly introduced requirements for payment within 90 days. Other Regions which took more than a year to settle their bills, according to Assobiomedica figures, were: Puglia (618 days); Campania (590); Lazio (535); Molise (531); Sicily (449); Sardinia (384); and Abruzzo (378).
