Executive Summary
Karl Storz (Germany) has introduced a 21 F laser delivery system to its endoscopy range which, with an 8 F working channel, can be used with a range of catheters and side-firing lasers for urology and prostate applications. The Tuttlingen-based company has also launched an electromechanical morcellator for removing larger sections of tissue, such as myomata or ovaries, laparoscopically. Cutter speed can be controlled using a foot switch and, unlike other techniques, can be performed through existing incisions, says Storz, which is now owned by American Home Products.
