Executive Summary
A short-term animal study has backed-up claims that PLC Systems' Heart Laser limits damage after ischaemic events. Researchers at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School blocked coronary arteries in 18 sheep (Journal of the American College of Cardiology, January). According to Dr Lawrence Cohn, those which also received trans-myocardial revascularisation (TMR) had considerably less heart damage than either those whose arteries remained blocked or were unblocked later. Approximately 200 human patients have undergone TMR in the US.
