Abbott Laboratories (US) has elected six new corporate officers from long-serving members of staff: Patrick Balthrop (vice-president of diagnostic operations, US and Canada); William Dempsey (vice-president, hospital products business sector); Guillermo Herrera (vice-president of Latin America operations); Arthur Higgins (vice-president of Pacific, Asia and Africa operations); Thomas Watkins (vice-president of diagnostic operations, Asia and Pacific). Finally, with effect from January 1st, 1997, Edward Michael will become president of diagnostic operations for Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
