Magnetic Resonance Imaging better than computed tomography (CT) for acoustic nerve evaluation:

Executive Summary
Magnetic resonance imaging is more effective than computed tomography in the evaluation of acoustic neuromas, especially intracanalicular lesions, says a research team from the department of radiology at the Josep Trueta Hospital in Girona and the Corachan Clinic in Barcelona, both in Spain. Presenting their findings at RSNA, the researchers found that MRI was 100% sensitive compared to 77% sensitivity with CT examining 53 acoustic nerve tumours in a 900-patient trial. MRI detected 12 small intracanalicular lesions which were not visible with CT.
