Executive Summary

Medtronic and Vista Medical Technologies are to collaborate in promoting Vista's visualisation systems for minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery in the US. In addition, Medtronic will have exclusive distribution rights to the systems in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Medtronic will also make an equity investment in privately-held Vista of an undisclosed amount. Vista's Series 8000 visualisation and information system incorporates 3D image acquisition with head-mounted display and real-time information integration. Vista, which is headquartered in Carlsbad, California, intends to launch the product in spring 1997.
