Executive Summary
The biochemistry and molecular biology department of Oviedo University in Spain has been awarded the Severo Ochoa grant to develop a test for early diagnosis of silicosis, reports Diario Medico. Research will be based around TNF alpha cytosine, but the team will also study SIG genes and fibroblasts as well as gene receptors p80, p60 and the function of the TRAF2B protein. The project is to last two years, although development has already been under way for the last five years.
