This article was originally published in Clinica

Executive Summary

The UK's programme on cervical cancer screening has already cut the incidence of invasive cervical cancer by the figure the government set as a target for the year 2000. The number of deaths due to breast cancer has also fallen by 13% among women aged between 50 and 64. In the government's 1992 report, The Health of the Nation, the objective was that screening should reduce deaths from breast cancer by 25% from the 1990 figure.
