Executive Summary
Hewlett-Packard introduced a predictive ECG system at the American Heart Association Meeting (New Orleans, November 11th-13th). The HP Acute Cardiac Ischaemia Time-Insensitive Predictive Instrument uses ECG data from a PageWriter cardiograph together with patient medical records to predict the probability of a heart attack on a scale of zero to 100. About half a million patients with false symptoms are admitted to intensive or cardiac care units in the US every year.
