Executive Summary
Research Medical (US) has introduced five disposable devices for minimally invasive heart bypass. Two have been approved by the FDA; the Anastaflo intervascular shunt and the Visuflo - a device for removing unwanted blood and illuminating the surgical opening. The other three include a femoral-arterial shunt, a suction wand to stabilise segments of the heart and a heart elevator to compress the chest wall and minimise movement.
